Training
Introduction to Geometric Dimensions & Tolerances (GD&T)
Build practical confidence reading and interpreting GD&T on engineering drawings.
GD&T is the technical language used to communicate form, fit, and function on engineering drawings. This introductory course builds practical working knowledge of the symbols and concepts used to interpret prints and support manufacturing, inspection, quality, and engineering decisions.
What You’ll Learn
- What GD&T is and why it is used
- How to recognize standard geometric control symbols
- How tolerance-zone shapes relate to geometric controls
- How to read and interpret feature control frames
- Basic use of MMC, LMC, and RFS material-condition modifiers
- The fundamentals of datums and datum reference frames
- How GD&T affects function, inspection, manufacturing, and cost
Performance Improved
- Greater confidence interpreting engineering drawings
- Clearer communication between engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and quality
- Better understanding of design requirements
- More accurate tolerance interpretation
- Stronger support for manufacturing and inspection decisions
